TEMBLORES!!

So the other night, we were awoken with a shaking house. In my sleepy haziness, I thought a giant truck was passing by (or through) the building. However, Laura is much smarter than I, and she calmly pointed out that it was an earthquake.
We quickly learned that it wasn`t an earthquake but a ``TEMBLOR`` which loosely translates into ``when the mountain shakes and only the foreigners get freaked out .`` Over the next 24 hours, there were two more temblores, and each was scarier than the first (except the third, which I somehow slept through).
In any case, we are all alive, the mountain apparently just has some bad gas, but feels much better now.

Although this didn`t hapen, it darn well could have...

  3. Yeah! This week is spirit week at LUSHER. We all thought about using last years beat for our song but the beat didn't fit our theme very well....All of your songs are AMAZING! On you-tube, the Alexander the Great got over 2,000 views! We still remember the 'Cheers' you made us do in class. I'm always interested in two questions. 1. In Mexico do they call it "American Food"? 2. Is the food spicy there? Just wondering, my friend in mexico said that american food is hamburgers, true? Hope you learn to like the 'alien' food! -Laura

  4. Ah, Spirit week- what was the theme this year? With regards to your two questions: Guatemala does have a couple of places that have hamburgers (``hamburguesas``) but I don`t know if they call it ``American Food.`` (One thing to remember is that the people here don`t usually call the U.S.A. ``America`` because they say ``America`` is the name for the continents, not just one country. They call us ``The United States`` or ``Estados Unidos`` or ``E.E.U.U.``)
Regarding spiciness-level: The food as a whole isn`t all that spicy, but there is always hot sauce available, luckily. Today I tried to explain to my host-mom about Nawlins Red Beans & Rice on Mondays, and she looked at me like I was crazy.
